1st Coalition Conference
on March 22nd 2025
in Geneva, Switzerland
The Coalition will meet to continue its work on the way we are celebrating and curating student competences, ensuring that it reflects context and offers a richer narrative than grades alone.
The conference will take place at the La Grande Boissière International School of Geneva on Saturday, the 22nd of March. Teachers, researchers and any actor in the education field is welcome to participate, exchange and contribute to the common efforts towards a more holistic learning and recognition of learning through the reform of end school certificates.
Our keynote speaker is Dr. Eric Hamilton from Pepperdine Graduate School of Education and Psychology in Los Angeles, USA. Dr. Eric Hamilton is a learning scientist and technologist who directs the Asset-Based Learning Environments project, a multiyear research effort funded by the US National Science Foundation (NSF). During the 2018-2019 academic year, Dr. Hamilton was in Geneva Switzerland as Sr. Manager for Critical and Emerging Issues in Curriculum and Related Areas for UNESCO's International Bureau of Education. During this time, he has contributed to the design of the Universal Learning Programme co-developed by the UNESCO-IBE and Ecolint and implemented at the La Grande Boissière International School of Geneva. The competence framework the Universal Learning Programmes is built upon is also the basis of the Ecolint Learner Passport, the Ecolint initiative to reform end of school certificates.
Further to the keynote session, there will be a panel session and workshops on the following themes:
what defines a good competences framework?
is it realistic to think that we can have an universal alternative transcript model?
how to make sure competences are taught and correctly assessed?
and many more...
There will also be many networking opportunities throughout the day.
